World Universities Debating Championships
When the English as a Second Language ranking was introduced in Sydney Worlds in 1988, Deree College ranked at the top, with George Vassilaras being 11th in the World. Lana de Beer-Heard and George Vassilaras were at the top of the ESL rank in 1991 in Toronto. ESL finals were introduced in Princeton in 1995 and Maria Stafylarakis and Jeanie Paizis participated in the final representing Deree. The following year Machalis Zaharatos and myself made the ESL finals in Cork and the year after that Stephanos Issaias and George Vassilaras were in the ESL finals in Stellenbosch.In 1998, Deree hosted the World Universities Debating Championships in Athens, the first ever continental European host of the competition. During that competition, ESL semi-finals were introduced for the first time.In 2010, Manos Moschopoulos won the best ESL speaker trophy and made the ESL quarter-finals with Kimon Ioannides representing the University of Athens at Koc Worlds (Antalya).European Universities Debating Championships
Manolis Polychronides and Irene Kamba (Deree) won the ESL trophy in EUDC 1999, held in Rotterdam. In 2004, Effie Giannakouri and Irianna Kouri (Athens) made the EUDC main break quarter-finals and the ESL semi-finals in Durham. In 2010, Manos Moschopoulos and Kimon Ioannides (Athens) made the ESL final in Amsterdam.

2010/11
Zagreb Open 2010 - Manos Moschopoulos made the final with Maja Cimerman (Ljubljana).
UCU Open 2010 - Three teams from the Deree Debating Club, Chris Papadopoulos and Sophia Simunec made the semi-finals. The other teams were Eirini Damianaki with Kimon Ioannides and Dimitris Kaplanis with Panagiotis Semitekolos. Arina Voytenko was judging for Deree, while Manos Moschopoulos was the tournament's Deputy Chief Adjudicator.
Istanbul Open 2010 - Manos Moschopoulos and Petros Papalianos, made the semi-finals. Eirini Damianaki and Elita Koukouraki were judging.
2009/10
Serbia Summer Debate Academy 2010 - Petros Papalianos made the finals with Fabian Farkas (Germany). Manos Moschopoulos served as a trainer.
European Universities Debating Championships 2010 - Two University of Athens teams and one Deree Debating Club team - Manos Moschopoulos and Kimon Ioannides (Athens) made the ESL final. The other teams were Arthur Khotenovsky with Vassilis Boukas (Athens) and Dimitris Kaplanis with Chris Papadopoulos (Deree)
Newcastle Mixed Doubles 2010 - Three Deree Debating Club teams (Eirini Damianaki / Chris Papadopoulos, Dimitris Kaplanis / Elita Koukouraki, Raif Ataya / Angelina Giovani) with Miltiadis Chtouris judging
Durham Open 2010 - Three Deree Debating Club teams (Dimitris Kaplanis / Chris Papadopoulos, Angelina Giovani / Raif Ataya, Elita Koukouraki / Miltiadis Chtouris) with Eirini Damianaki judging
Berlin IV 2010 - Manos Moschopoulos made the semi-final with Milan Vignjevic, debating for Open Communication Serbia
London Australs 2010 - Manos Moschopoulos won the ESL competition with Milan Vignjevic (Belgrade) and Filip Dobranic (Ljubljana)
Belgrade Open 2010 - Vassilis Boukas and Arthur Khotenovsky (Athens) made the finals
